Toby G. Kleinman, Esq.
Toby Kleinman is a New Jersey attorney, who has litigated domestic violence, child custody and abuse cases and has been a consultant in legal cases dealing with domestic violence and child abuse in over 45 states. Her latest book is entitled; “Domestic Abuse, Child Custody and Visitation: Winning in Family Court,” and she co-authors a family law column for the New York Law Journal, is Associate Editor of the Journal of Family Trauma, Child Custody & Child Development, formerly known as the Journal of Child Custody, is a Director of the Advisory Board of the Leadership Council on Child Abuse and Interpersonal Violence, does grand rounds for pediatricians such as at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, entitled: Where Pediatrics Meets the Law, and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center and the Rose F. Kennedy University Center on Developmental Disabilities entitled, Muddy Waters: Where Pediatrics Meets the Law and co-developed and taught Social Policy and Legal Dilemmas: Child Custody and Visitation in the context of Domestic Violence at the Harvard School of Public Health. Ms. Kleinman has written a Legal Affairs column for the Trauma Psychology Newsletter, has published articles in The New Jersey Law Journal, chapters in the book, The Broken Family Court and is co-author of Social Work and The Courts: A Casebook with Daniel Pollack.
Ms. Kleinman also developed and taught forensic psychology students both Psychological Issues in Dependency and Family Court Cases at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from 2013 to 2021 and developed and taught, Assessment of Psychological Injury for Legal Cases at Nova Southeastern University from 2016 through 2018.
Ms. Kleinman was an invited Participant, to the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NJIDV) Faculty Development presented by the National Judicial Institute on Domestic Violence, in partnership of Futures Without Violence, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. Ms. Kleinman has given Keynote addresses at the Institute on Violence Abuse and Trauma, The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and The Battered Mothers Custody Conference and was the keynote speaker at the Cummings Foundation Broken family Courts conference. Ms. Kleinman has also been a NJ Super Lawyer.
