Dr. Kelly M. Champion

Kelly M. Champion is the sole owner-operator of Cadeus Behavioral Health where she provides treatment to children and adults, conducts court-related evaluations of adults and families. She also serves as an expert witness providing consultation to attorneys and testimony nationally and locally on school bullying, adult personality and psychopathology, child maltreatment, domestic violence, child psychopathology, treatment, and custody issues. She publishes and presents regional, national, and international trainings on treatment of trauma, violence prevention and parenting evaluations.

She is American Board Certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and an expert on responding to and preventing violence, evidence-based treatment with children, and traumatic stress. She is on the Legislative Committee of the Maryland Psychological Association, a member of the practice sub-committee for the Society on Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and is a member of the Expert on Child Maltreatment for the Center for Child Policy in the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. She is on the editorial board of the Evidence-Based Practice in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She has served as the co-chair of the Research Action Team of the National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence and the Massachusetts Psychological Association.

Dr. Champion began her professional career as an assistant professor at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where she taught psychology and studied bullying in schools. She also worked part-time in clinical settings to complete her post-doctoral clinical hours. She continued her academic career at Arizona State University, west campus in Glendale, Arizona. She has presented internationally and published papers on bullying in schools, child maltreatment, and parenting with chronic illness. In 2007, she moved to the Boston area. She sought specialty training in eating disorder treatment and later held positions in different practice settings in the Boston metro area until 2015. Her responsibilities included clinical training and administration.
