Hon. Julie Kunce Field, Colorado District Court Judge (ret.)
Judge Field was appointed to the District Court bench in Colorado's 8th Judicial District Court 2011. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to her judicial appointment, Judge Field worked as a mediator and a national trainer on family law, domestic violence, and litigation. She was the founder and Executive Director of the Confidentiality Institute, which addressed issues of privilege and confidentiality particularly regarding victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She was a law professor and clinic director at The University of Michigan Law School, Washburn University School of Law, and The Sturm College of Law of the University of Denver. Prior to teaching, Judge Field practiced with Nutter, McClennen, & Fish, LLP in Boston, and served as a law clerk in Federal District Court in Kansas City, Missouri. Judge Field retired from the bench in October 2021, and she has returned to teaching attorneys and allied professionals on innovations in family law through the Consilium Institute, LLC, which she founded with her colleague Heidi Webb.
